Varkala is a small, peaceful village on the outskirts of Trivandrum district. It has many tourist attractions like beautiful beaches, 2000-year-old Vishnu Temple and Ashramam - Sivagiri Mutt not far from the beach. And famous. It is believed to have medicinal and healing properties. It is believed that diving into the holy water of this beach will cleanse the body from impurities and the soul from all sins. Hence the name "Papanasam Beach". The 2000-year-old Janardhanaswamy Temple and Sivagiri Mutt attract a constant influx of tourists every year. There are also many established Ayurveda centers in the region, which increases its appeal.
